Construction on this new building, which houses Wake Forest Baptist Health’s Information Services department, began in October 2000. The schedule was originally set for 12 months but was extended due to changes and build-out of the fourth floor.
The 75,000-square-foot building was constructed on the site of a demolished small grocery store. To compensate for bad soil, a steep site, and to improve ground settling challenges, the completed 75,000-square-foot facility was built on gravel-filled auger piles or Geopiers®. The building features many "high tech" built-ins, including smart boards, which were cutting edge at the time, and conference rooms outfitted with state-of-the-art technology.
