NCSU Selects Blum Construction for Carmichael Addition and Renovation

May 1, 2017

Blum has been selected by North Carolina State University for the Carmichael Addition and Renovation project. Carmichael Gym was built in 1961. This project will demolish and replace the original 47,000-square-foot east wing with a new 82,000-square-foot structure.  The project includes recreation, fitness, and specialized activity spaces, as well as classroom/ multipurpose spaces, offices, and a functional training area. Designed by a partnership of St. Louis, MO-based HOK and Chapel Hill-based Corley Redfoot Architects, the addition and renovation will create one controlled access point for the complex, make the second floor of the existing gymnasium building accessible, and update the sprinkler and alarm systems throughout the entire complex. Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2018.
