Glenaire Healthcare Renovation Complete

September 1, 2017

Frank L. Blum Construction Company recently completed the 88,000-square-foot, 80-room renovation and expansion of The Presbyterian Homes' Glenaire Healthcare Center in Cary, NC. The project, designed by Winston-Salem-based CJMW Architecture, makes the facility one of the first retirement communities in North Carolina to offer household accommodations similar to those of a private home. Instead of the traditional healthcare layout, with rooms located along long corridors with central baths, Glenaire's households separate the residents' rooms from the main corridors and entryways. Each household includes 20 rooms and an upgraded kitchen and dining area. The updates create spaces that provide more flexible dining options for residents in each household, and a refreshed common area in each household creates a comfortable living room environment. In addition to the household updates, the assisted living wing and main dining area have been updated and the physical therapy area expanded.
