Summer Intern Wrap Up

August 28, 2019

This summer, Blum was home to fifteen summer interns from seven different construction management and engineering programs at universities across North Carolina and Virginia. Thirteen of the fifteen interns were assigned to projects in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Greenville, and Colfax. The other interns worked in our virtual construction department and our marketing and finance departments.

Our summer internship program provides our interns a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the commercial construction industry that will serve as a cornerstone for the rest of our interns' professional career. We strive to provide meaningful experiences in field work, supervision and management, allow use of skills learned in the classroom on the job, provide opportunities to improve problem solving and communications skills, and assist in the transition from student life to professional life.

This summer our interns also participated in training sessions throughout the summer to learn more about the operations of our business as well as team building, social events and a community service project to build connectivity between our interns. We look forward to welcoming six of our summer interns back as full time Blum employees as well as several back as 2020 summer interns!
