A new state-of-the-art media center is under construction on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the School of Media and Journalism. The Curtis Media Center, designed by local architect Szostak Design and New Orleans-based Eskew Dumez Ripple, is a 13,000-square-foot facility housing collaborative learning spaces, production studios, and technical support spaces equipped with emerging technology. Demolition of the Phillips Annex Building, constructed in 1925, was required prior to construction.
