Regional Anesthesia & Acute Pain Management
Project Owner: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center
Designer: David Roberts + Associates
The Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management facility was a multi-phased project that created new impatient holding bays for regional anesthesia patients. The installation of manual sliding ICU doors provided required smoke-tight compartments. Infection and dust control was paramount as work was taking place adjacent to patient recovery bays. The thoroughness of planning was evident during a surprise inspection by a Joint Commission surveryor, who was impressed with worker's knowledge level and additional measures taken to ensure patient and staff safety. Close coordination and a mockup ensured that medical gas outlets, power feeds, and clinical equipment monitors were laid out and installed without compromising aesthetics or function.
