Salemtowne Cuts The Ribbon On Its New Babcock Heath Care Center

September 1, 2017

Salemtowne Retirement Community recently cut the ribbon on its new Babcock Health Care Center that's been more than three years in the making. Frank L. Blum Construction Company completed the 127,000-square-foot center, designed by Winston-Salem-based CJMW Architecture. The facility is divided into six 20-room households with 60 long-term, skilled-nursing beds, 40 short-term rehab beds and 20 assisted living memory-care beds. Each 20-bed wing of the new healthcare facility features its own common area for the exclusive use of that wing. Research has shown this model to be more beneficial to and greatly enhances the quality of life of residents. It allows them the freedom to go as they please within the community while receiving the assistance they need, rather than providing a highly regimented retirement community environment.

The facility boasts private rooms, wide hallways, common dining, kitchen and living room settings, large therapy and recreation centers, ample natural lighting, and even cook-to-order hot meals. The library is a common area available to all residents and boasts high ceilings and natural light.
