Independent Living Apartments

Project Owner: River Landing at Sandy Ridge

Designer: CJMW Architecture

Blum Construction was selected to build a four-story, 112,000-square-foot apartment building for River Landing at Sandy Ridge in Colfax, the newest and largest of three continuing care retirement communities operated by The Presbyterian Homes, Inc.

The project was challenging for several reasons. Poor soil conditions required the installation of 245 compacted aggregate piers - each 15 feet deep and 3 feet in diameter - to support the foundation prior to building. Most important, great care and coordination were required to limit the inconvenience and safety risks for hundreds of other occupants on the campus, including visitors and staff of the adjacent adult day care facility, child care center, loading dock and Wellness Center.

Construction of the apartments was successfully completed and Blum Construction was then selected to build an addition to the already-existing Healthcare Center at River Landing.
